All Roads Lead to Rome

Title: “All Roads Lead to Rome"
Size: 2.5 x 3.5
Medium: Watercolor, coated and glazed.Price: $20.00

I have a new ACEO “All Roads Lead to Rome”. My oldest son will be leaving for college soon. They start earlier than most schools it seems. So we are working on the end goal. To get him all he needs before he leaves. Does that ever really happen?
I think we are getting there. The real trick will be to see if we can get it all in the van including travel needs for three other people, his family. Then the lovely drive of 9 hours to Potsdam, NY. I will bring art supplies so I might be creative if, and I mean if, I have any down time. I need to remember if painting or drawing in a moving car makes me car sick. I will risk it. I will be helping with the driving and navigation so not sure if that will work. Even if I don't get to use my art supplies if is always nice to have them with me in case the opportunity presents itself.
I really enjoyed working on this piece “All Roads Lead to Rome”. I looked at many areal views of Rome and the Colosseum. I had watched a documentary called Rome Engineering an Empire. It was so amazing how they accomplished what they did. It was also so horrific in the treatment of human life in both the building of the Colosseum, and the “sport” in the arena.

Now that was easy!

Frog Pond

This is another small work of art inspired by The Maine Audubon Gisland Farm Falmouth. It is an ACEO (Artist Card Edition Original).

It was a bright sunny day and I was surprised by all the frogs I saw in the pond. I was more interested by the water, and the light reflections, in the water and the flowers. It was a very pretty scene.

Or they will be after the torrential rain we are having. I looked out at my back yard and thought, I would have been far better off to plant rice this year. I am hoping that after the days of rain we will get the strong sunshine and it will save my garden.

This small work is of a rose that was growing at the Maine Audubon, Gisland farm in Falmouth.

They have some beautiful gardens over there. I was there while my oldest son was working on his Boy Scout Eagle project. He worked on the walking trails building them up adding underground drainage and stepping stones. It is so much nicer to walk there now.

Enjoy!

" A Little Birdie Told Me"

Title: “A little Birdie Told Me”
Size: 2.5 x 3.5
Medium: Watercolor, coated and glazed.
Price: $20.00

Well, before it becomes officially summer I feel the need to post another small work of art also in the category of an ACEO which I am not sure many are familiar with. Each ACEO measures 2.5” X 3.5” and is hand signed by me. ACEO stands for Artist Card Edition and Original. I work in original works of art, usually water color and colored pencil for these small works.

I have been having fun with idioms and sayings, or phrases. Then thinking of how that phrase might look. This one happens to be “A little Birdie Told Me”. All works copyrighted, sold unframed and will come in a protective archival, acid free sleeve. Enjoy!

First Blog "Spring Point"

Well I have finally made it to my first blog. It is hard to post the first one. I feel like I will have no problem with the second, or the third. Making that attempt to post the first one is harder than I thought.
I have been working on some smaller works of art. I wanted to do some smaller works to make buying and attaining art easier. These pieces are small. 2.5 x 3.5. All original art, done by me, by hand, unframed and copyrighted.
More of my work can be seen at my website http://www.sherihume.com/
I am contemplating an Etsy Account. If anyone has feedback about having an Etsy “store” I would love to hear about it.

I am from Maine so I thought it would be appropriate to start with something of a Maine theme.
